Hon. Namwali Mourns Ward Councilor Joel Milanzi

Thyolo-Goliati constituency Democratic Progressive Party, member of parliament Honorable Maureen Namwali has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Councilor Elisha Joel Milanzi for Muonekera ward, which falls under her constituency. Hon. Namwali said the community has lost a councilor with a hard vision for developing Muonekera ward, Thyolo-Goliati constituency, Thyolo district council, and Malawi. Speaking during the funeral ceremony at Kamoto village sub T/A Kamoto, cemetery on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Honorable Namwali extended her condolences to the bereaved family, saying that the loss has left a mark and gap that will be hugely difficult to replace. Councilor Milanzi met his fate on December 2, 2025, in a road accident while traveling home from a Full Council meeting. Thyolo District Council, through the outgoing Thyolo District Commissioner, Hudson Kuphanga, described the loss as a great blow to the district, praising Milanzi as a dedicated and active representative. The council notes that Milanzi's contributions to Thyolo's development will be greatly missed, calling him a committed leader who worked tirelessly to improve his constituents' lives. Councilor Elisha Joel Milanzi was born on October 29, 1984, sworn in on November 12, 2025, died on December 2, 2025, and buried on December 3, 2025.
