Consider Renovation of Late President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika's Mpulumo wa Bata Cemetery to Honor Him

Hon. Maureen Namwali, MP for Thyolo-Goliati, has requested the renovation of Mpulumo wa Bata cemetery, the final resting place of late President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika. This request was made during a parliament session on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, where MPs hailed Bingu as a national hero, citing his achievements. Hon. Namwali commemorated Bingu with his favorite song, "Tiyende Pamodzi," emphasizing unity. Bingu, founder of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), passed away on 5 April 2012.
