Thyolo-Goliati MP Hon Maureen Namwali on Saturday, 3 January 2026, visited and donated items like maize flour, soya pieces, soap, drinks, and snacks to inmates at Makande Prison as one way of celebrating with them this festive season. Hon. Namwali requested the inmates to use the time in prison to reflect on their lives in order to rehabilitate, reform, and reintegrate into the community. "All of you here are not guilty, but you're still serving a sentence whether you're guilty or innocent. Follow all that these prison warders instruct you in order not to be the same as when you came here," Namwali said. Inspector Hostings Bwanali thanked the Honorable for contributing to supporting the inmates, which is also part of rehabilitation.
