Honorable Maureen Namwali has attributed relief donations and urged beneficiaries not to sell the items received.
In response to hunger in the lean season, Muslim Disaster Relief Aid (MADRA) distributed food to assist households facing hunger, targeting 15,000 beneficiaries nationwide.
Thyolo Goliati Constituency MP, Hon Maureen Namwali, presided over the distribution of assorted items like flour, cooking oil, and K5,000 to 1000 beneficiaries (500 from Thyolo-Goliati and 500 from Thyolo Central constituencies) at Steco football ground Sub Traditional Authority Kwanjana. Namwali covered transport costs for her constituency's beneficiaries.
Hon Namwali noted that supporting the needy will help them be productive and urged beneficiaries not to sell the relief items. She requested President Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude Mutharika to visit Thyolo district.
Local Government Minister and Thyolo Central MP, Ben Phiri, echoed Hon. Maureen Namwali calls for stakeholders to aid over 4 million Malawians needing relief support, urging investors to pull resources together.
71,531 households in Thyolo district need relief support this lean season.
